Photos or video? DSLR or point and shoot? SD or HD? However you choose to do it, one of the very best things about family trips is sitting down and looking at the captured memories when you get back. Here are a few of KinderJet's favourite family vacation photos from last year.

I have two videos to share with you this week. The first is a promotional video of the city of Calgary done in 1962 that I came across on social media over the weekend. So fun to see how they sold the growing city to family travelers back then. Not quite the way we would do it now.
...All right, I know. When starting to plan a mid-winter trip, you probably start thinking of tropical places, sunny places, warm places. And there are times when it is pretty sunny and warm in Victoria, British Columbia in January. This was not one of those times. Still, we found lots of fun ways to keep busy and make some family memories. When it comes to traveling with kids, make the most of what you get.
Why travel to the frozen North of Canada in the middle of Winter, you ask? There is something about Northern communities, particularly in the Winter, that you won't experience anywhere else at any other time. There is a shared experience, a friendly understanding, a way of coping with the extreme conditions that makes a visit to the North in the Winter warmer than you would expect. It is an adventure that you can tell your friends about. Still, the weather is pretty darn cold!
...The first thing that happened after landing in LA? We accidentally locked our two 4 year old sons in the rental van, strapped into their car seats, unable to unlock the doors. Luckily, we were still at the rental car agency, and they were able to get into the van, even though they did not have a spare set of keys! Fortunately for us, the trip just got better from there. It was the first big trip with these two boys, full of exciting firsts for them. Traveling with kids...challenging, unpredictable and worth the effort every time.
