Amazing Race=Amazing Family Destinations-Atlanta

The Amazing Race came to an end last weekend with the racers returning to the US in Atlanta. Now, I am a firm believer in the idea that no matter where you go, you can find fun things for families to do and see, but I wanted to know, what would make me book a flight, pack up my kids and head to Atlanta? 

Well, it was a tough sell for me, because when I begin planning family trips, the first thing I look for is a beach. And then, wineries. And then, something the kids (and us) can't experience anywhere else. So, you can croiss the first two off the list. What can families see in Atlanta that they can't get anywhere else? As I perused several websites about Atlanta, what started to draw me in was the Southern charm. The "Gone With The Wind" connection would get me to at least consider going. And the other big draw, being that I come from a broadcast news background, would be the CNN headquarters.

We have been to more than one huge amusement park with our kids. They have memories of each one, which they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. They will also always remember the trip each Summer to our smaller, local mecca of amusement, Calaway Park. Smaller amusement parks offer a familiarity, relaxation and level of comfortable fun that can only be found closer to home. (Although I know families who skip Disney and go for smaller parks while traveling, too.)
